I'd like any more information you could give me on the Whitten family. My grandmother's name was Maggie Lucille Whitten-Humphreys. I'd also learned about your site from my aunt Patsy Humphreys-Schroeder. She told her son, Max and her sister Betty Humphreys-McNealy. So, the word is getting around about your site. I think your site is quite useful. I like to thank you for posting some old pictures on your site, my dad has one of John Thomas Whitten, Pleas "Bunk Whitten, Jr. and Jack Whitten, Sr. altogether in this one picture. My Dad's Name is Robert Ples Humphreys. His nickname is Bunk and he got his middle name from Pleasant "Bunk Whitten, Jr. Sincerely, Melissa Humphreys-Kautz. Please let me know if you have anymore information that I can use and pass along to my family. Thank You.

Truly enjoyed reading your pages, very well done. Was of great interest to me since I have just begun to search for the ancestors of a John A. Whitten born in Ky between 1810 and 1812 but by 11/12/1844 he was in Hines County, Ms and married Susan McDanie. His 1st born [Thompson Theophilus Whitten my 2 x great] was born in Raymond, Hinds County, Ms on 8/28/1845. Three other sons followed: Leonidas b. 2/5/1847; John A. Jr. b. 1850; Calvin Cicero b. 1852 and then, after the Civil War, came Dudley b. 1871- all born in Ms according to the info I have.

My great x 2 [Thompson Theophilus] seems to have been doing garrison duty in Harrisonburg, LA at the end of the Civil War and, from there, went to Caldwell Parish, LA. where he married and settled down to raise a family. He may have lost contact with hisfamily in Raymond and/or Hinds County, Ms.

If you know of anyone with information about this line I would sincerely appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks for posting your web page, it is truly an inspiration and excellent example for beginners like myself to strive toward.

Your web site has a great deal of useful and interesting information.

My grandfather, Curnie R. Whitten, was the son of Jack Whitten. I have grown up with stories of the Whitten family, and remember many of the Whittens from my younger days when my mother used to take me with her on visits to her aunts, uncles and cousins. find the family extremely interesting and would like to learn all that I can about them.

Several of the Whitten cousins moved to Mobile, Ala. during and immediately after WW-II. We visited all of them quite often when I was a child.

Presently I live in Mobile, as does the majority of my family. I would be interested in sharing any information I have on my branch of the family as well as learning all that I can about our common ancestors.
